As Seen On Sarah Chalke on How I Met Your Mother

SarahChalke.jpgSarah Chalke wore Badgley Mischka last week during a guest appearance on How I Met Your Mother. The dress is actually still available at Saks Fifth Avenue.

If you keep up with the show, we've got a prediction for you: Sarah might become a regular on the show. Think about it - Sarah's character mentioned she'd attended a St. Patrick's Day party and left early and last episode, Ted said his future wife was at a St. Patty's party he went to, but he didn't know it at the time.

Catch a new episode tonight on CBS.

StarGazing: Carla Bruni-Sarkozy

This time of year can be a tricky for fashionistas living in parts of the world with very pronounced seasons. It's the transitional point between winter and spring when it looks pleasant outside, but once you leave home you realize how absolutely freezing it still is. With so many spring and summer looks already flooding the market, it's hard to reach for that solemn black wool coat when you're excited about wearing the new season's bright colors. So borrow a page from Carla Bruni-Sarkozy's fashion playbook and invest in a bracelet sleeve coat in a feminine floral color.

The former model was with her husband, French President Nicolas Sarkozy, on a trip to visit with Britain's Prime Minister when she donned this vibrant purple coat (which still looks a bit too warm for our needs). We love this carnation-colored coat by Tahari as it provides just the right amount of protection from the elements without looking wintery.

satceiffel.pngNot much is known about the plot of the Sex and the City movie, coming to theaters in May. However, one thing we do know is that in the opening scenes of the movie, Carrie Bradshaw (played by Sarah Jessica Parker) totes an adorable mini Eiffel Tower-shaped handbag.

Of course, Carrie's bag is encrusted with thousands and thousands of Swarovski Crystals and retails for $2,750, but the standard version (pictured) costs just under $400.

Better yet, shopdistinction.com is raffling off the bag just in time for the movie's big premiere. And best of all, whether you win or not, all the proceeds of the raffle benefit The Breast Cancer Research Foundation. Visit shopdistinction.com to donate and enter. Each raffle ticket costs only $5.

Trendspotting: Electric Blue

electricblue.jpgTala Ashe, Leighton Meester and Mariska Hargitay all recently wore electric blue. We can't help but to think of 80's spandex when we see this color, but it is a fantastic hue for brunettes. Just keep it simple....and a little less shiny.

Steal Tinsley Mortimer's Style

When we saw New-York-socialite-turned-trendsetter-turned-handbag-designer, Tinsley Mortimer at the launch party for Versace Menswear 2008 at Barneys in NYC, we thought to ourselves, "How can we make Tinsley's whimsical and ultra-girly style work for us?"
TinsleyMortimeryellow.jpg
By alluding to her voluminous ruffled shrug with a simple cotton-cashmere cardigan with a ruffle detail and switching her canary yellow chiffon dress to a more versatile jersey-knit tank dress we're going to be able to wear these pieces all summer in a number of different outfits.

Red Carpet Face-off: Nicole Richie and Tala Ashe

MiuMiudress.jpgWe wrote earlier in the week about how much we loved Nicole Richie's uncomplicated LBD (little black dress): this beautiful version from Miu Miu with a wonderfully deconstructed neckline detail.

Enter Tala Ashe. Tala is in the new film Waiting in Beijing and recently wore the same dress in vibrant blue, prompting us to wonder, 'Which color is best?'.

You can definitely see the details of the dress better in blue, but we prefer the black version. The longer length looks great on Nicole and her decolletage (thanks to baby) fills out the top and gives the neckline more of a graphic nature than a ruffle effect.

StarGazing: Katie Holmes Has a Yellow Trench Too

Katie Holmes
was spotted recently in a sunny yellow coat that reminded us of the fabulous yellow Kenneth Cole trench Jessica Alba wore last fall.

At the time, we were hard pressed to find any other yellow trench coats, but a recent search at nordstrom.com yielded many:

Red Carpet: Nicole Richie Is Much Improved

NicoleRichie.jpgWhen Nicole Richie attended the DCMA Collective flagship store grand opening a few weeks back, we were unimpressed with her champagne-colored satin gown and somewhat stringy locks. But little Harlow's mom turned it around the other day donning a stunningly-simple black Miu Miu swing dress and chunky black (so in vogue right now) Christian Louboutin heels for the premiere of Trembled Blossoms, presented by Prada. Hot mama!

Trendspotting: Orangey Floral Print Dresses

orangefloral.jpgMaybe it was all the floral prints Balenciaga showed lately, but florals and chintz are back and more bold than ever. Mary-Kate Olsen, Eva Longoria and Jenna Dewan are all subscribers to this trend. We like Mary-Kate's Chloe print the best (sans the fur capelet of course) and all three of them were smart to pair their busy print dresses with solid-color clutches.

As Seen On: Even MORE From the Shopaholic Movie

On Wednesday, we wondered if the outfits from the Shopaholic movie were a little outlandish. We're not wondering anymore.

ShopaholicFashion2.jpg

That dress is crazy. Admittedly, it's been a few years since we've read Confessions of a Shopaholic, but we DO NOT remember a scene with an outfit like this.

Oh dear.
