Michelle Obama wore an all-J.Crew ensemble (for a second time), the night before the inauguration. We love love love the color combination here. Hey, those aren't the same green heels she wore on inauguration day? And did you know Malia and Sasha wore J.Crew ensembles to the inauguration? Check it out here.Recently in Fashion Category

Michelle Obama wore a bright solid color to the swearing in ceremony, but it was by Cuban designer, Isabel Toledo, not Maria Pinto. It was a vibrant gold/green color that you don't see very often, but Michelle definitely has the confidence and complexion to pull it off. We also really liked that she wore a slightly darker shade scarf and opted for a completely different shade of green for her shoes and gloves. Those dark green pumps were a bold choice!
For the inaugural balls, Michelle wore an asymmetrical gown by Jason Wu, an emerging designer Michelle is familiar with. We could have sworn it was Marchesa at first, though! It was lovely to see Michelle in a color we haven't really seen her wear before...cream...and again, it was her quiet confidence that really allows her to pull any silhouette off. She looked comfortable and completely at ease with how her figure looked in the dress. We thought it was magical and we can't wait for better photos of the dress to hit the web.

It's likely that Michelle Obama's most heavily scrutinized fashion choice will come today, as she stands next to Barack Obama as he takes the Oath of Office. The world will be watching, not just here in America, but around the world. And based on her previous styles, we're guessing Michelle won't be looking to blend in.
Throughout her husband's historic campaign, Michelle has been a fan of bold solids. She wears bright colors very well and for Michelle, the simpler the design, the better. We think she'll stick with what she loves and wear a solid color coat in a bright hue by Maria Pinto.

Don't forget though, that Michelle loves shopping on a budget. Here she is (from left to right), in H&M, J.Crew and White House Black Market. We think Michelle will keep wearing low-cost outfits throughout her time as First Lady, but probably not at the inauguration. Of course, we're sure she's got a very expensive gown lined up for the balls...so how great would it be to wear a Banana Republic or J.Crew coat?
Of course we are hoping for a fashion repeat of what she wore the last night of the Democratic National Convention. Michelle looked confident, classy and extremely fashionable wearing Thakoon. It was updated First Lady chic and we also love that she wore flats. Unfortunately, it is so cold in Washington, D.C., all we will probably see of Michelle's ensemble will be her coat and boots...check back tomorrow for a report on what Michelle wore.

Remember when we stole Courtney Cox's style when she wore a dark blue dot wrap dress by Marc Jacobs? Well Anne Hathaway recently wore the same dress and also paired it with dark opaque tights (a smart move since it is freezing in most areas of the country right now).So who wore the dress best? It's a tie. We like Anne's look from the waist down. Her legs look incredibly long because the dress is cut higher on her and she doesn't wear a shoe with an ankle strap (like Courtney), which shortens the leg. However, we give it to Courtney from the waist up. Adding the long gold chain was the perfect accessory and made the top half of this dress look less like a silk bathrobe.

o you agree with our favorite 2008 stories? leave a comment!
Katie Holmes was the celeb to watch in 2008. Her style was always changing and she definitely started many trends, the most popular being rolling up your jeans.
She accomplished with look with baggy, loose-fitting denim, flats and grandpa style cardigans. Many other celebs followed suit, like Sarah Jessica Parker, but no one pulled off this "love it or hate it" look quite like Katie.
She was also one of the first stars to carry the black python Chloe Paraty purse. Mary-Kate Olsen and Jessica Biel also got the bag.

Stars like Hayden Panettiere, Rachel Bilson and Cate Blanchett flipped for Herve Leger.

And pantsuits were in again too.

We were super inspired by the stars of Lipstick Jungle like Lindsay Price and Kim Raver.

Lipstick Jungle is of course, by Candace Bushnell, the author of Sex and the City. And that was quite a fashion moment of 2008 - The Sex and the City movie premiere!
We liked the looks of Sarah Jessica Parker, Cynthia Nixon, Kim Cattrall and Kristin Davis best at the London event.

Another movie that was shot in 2008 and premieres in early 2009 is Confessions of a Shopaholic staring Isla Fisher...although we doubt we'll be as inspired by these outfits.

Many of you were interested in the similar looks of Katy Perry and Zooey Deschanel (left and middle). Lizzy Caplan (right) and Alexis Bledel have the look too.

Our favorite look this year had to be Marion Cotillard in Gaultier at the Academy Awards. Fish scales are in! The new Bond girl, Olga Kurylenko also rocked the look.

And she made a fashionable debut at many red carpet premieres.

Of course some of the most high profile celebs this year were involved in the presidential race. Politics and fashion went hand in hand for Sarah Palin and Michelle Obama.

Here she is in a stunning Tahari suit on election night.
And Michelle wore Narciso Rodriguez on election night to mixed reviews.
Ruffles were a huge trend, specifically at the Costume Institute Gala.

And Britney Spears made a shocking style comeback. Here she is wearing Rodarte for her successful 2008 album cover.

Happy New Year!

We had nothing nice to say about Lily Allen's style last April. So imagine how surprised we were when we saw this photo of her shopping in London in a very high-end looking ensemble. We love the gloves! What do you think of Lily's new look? Too chic or too revealing?photo on right via people
Meet Sutton Foster, a huge Broadway star (she also played Coco on Flight of the Conchords), who just made her debut as Fiona in Shrek the Musical. Cameron Diaz (the original Fiona) came to the opening night performance to wish Sutton well. Who looked best? They both looked so fantastic - we really can't choose.
