Celebs this week were full of girlish charm in grown-up versions of little girl dresses. Emmy Rossum paired a Peter Som dress with Chanel ballet flats, Eva Mendes wore a dress by Alberta Ferretti and Jimmy Choo shoes and Sarah Michelle Gellar wore Marchesa.

Last night's Video Music Awards on MTV were a bit of a snooze, but the hit or miss fashions were enough to keep us from drifting off. Christina Aguilera and Justin Timberlake certainly got their Sexy Back as they channeled some old school Hollywood glamour. Christina's sophisticated look made us forget her former "Dirrty" days, while JT's two vested looks worn on the red carpet and onstage proved that his fashion choices are always spot on.

Jennifer Lopez and Jessica Simpson were unfortunately not their usual stylish selves, each wearing a supershort minidress that fell short of this season's chic style. J. Lo's shimmering long sleeve version was paired with a matching head wrap that just killed the look for us, while Jessica's tight sleeveless dress did nothing to flatter her fantastic figure.

From deep jewel tones to lovely lavender, there was a purple haze on the red carpet at last night's Emmy Awards. Some notable hits included Evangeline Lilly's and Leah Remini's gorgeous plum Versaces and Ellen Pompeo's velvet gown from John Galliano for Christian Dior. There were very few misses to be found, though Cheryl Hines' bejeweled purple frock was one.

Who won the surfboard for best grillll??? Brooke Hogan! (and P.S. I cannot believe this is an actual category, it's pretty funny.) However, what I really want to make note of was the undeniable red carpet trend at this year's Teen Choice Awards: Short Dresses. Mischa Barton, Ashley Olsen, Carmen Electra, Christina Milian and host Jessica Simpson were just a few of the hotties who decided to sport something other than the typical jeans at this Hollywood (usually casual) affair.

My vote for best dressed? Although I commend Nelly Furtado for her bold (and very tight) striped dress, it was a little too loud for me. Carmen, I think it's difficult to pull of a silver short number unless the rest of your outfit/hair is totally toned down..the long hair and silver strappy sandals with all the makeup? It was too over the top for me. Now, had she paired it with a colored shoe and worn a messy updo? That would have scored major points. Best dressed of the night, and always fashion forward, classy and sexy, was Mischa Barton in a midnight blue baby doll, with an undone bun and gorgeous jewelry.

Whether you love them or hate them, it looks like leggings are here to stay. The good news is, they can be more wearable than you think if you follow the lead of the celebrities shown here. Lindsay Lohan's leggings are actually footless tights and can be worn with everything from dresses to miniskirts and flats. You know what my biggest pet peeve is? Someone that flaunts their assets TOO much (Pamela Anderson, Jenny McCarthy, Carmen Electra). Have you ever seen these
women with LESS makeup/hair/revealing hoochie outfits?? They are gorgeous! With it (or..without it rather) they look like cheaper versions of themselves. Am I right? (God..I might get reemed for this.) Listen, I am ALL for showing off your goods if you got 'em, but i think sometimes we end up looking more stripclub than nightclub. Know what I mean? Leave a little something to the imagination would ya please? With that said, let me remind you that I am ALL FOR showing the body you work so hard to create ok?! (I'm just saying...not too too much!)

Ok..let's start with the legs. If you wear shorts/skirts, what makes it go over the top is if you then pair that with a really low cut top. If you put on a more convervative and chic buttondown and some stylish heels you will not only look chic, but SEXY! (ps: this picture of Carmen is actually one I love...i wanted you to see you can still be hot while covered up, and the picture of Mischa? Love. sexy..not TOO. Speaking of too....here's Pamela. Need I say more??

A tip for accessories? Cute skinny hairbands in summery colors, or simple smallish earrings and a classy bag (Chanel, even a knockoff), some fabulous sunglasses and there...We have one sexy mama comin' around the corner and we wonder..what is beneath that blouse??? Right?

PS: Another combination I LOVE that is a bit more youthful? Shorts, a vintage T-shirt and a blazer. With heels OR flats: Extremely hip, extremely sexy.

Nooo sillies, I am not talking about those famous aaah...tapes made by "some" of our favorite celebs. I'm talking nude is all over the red carpet and the runways, both on the faces and the bods of the trendsetters themselves: Caramel and earth tinted dresses, skirts and suits, nude lips, nude faces...nude nude nude..Au Natural (well..as Au natural Hollywood can get, know what i mean?!) is the new "it".

But don't get TOO excited: although it may seem to be a low maintenance fad, it actually takes quite a bit of work to look great "nude": we are still going to need foundation, and bronzer, and liptint at the very least. Next, let's discuss the fabulous fashions all those lucky celebs are sportin'. Gorgeous, classy, just a little tint of color..clean...nude. Look who has joined the trend train!
