Red Carpet: Golden Globes Awards

The 2010 Awards season kicked off yesterday evening with the Golden Globe Awards. As usual the red carpet did not disappoint. Below are some of the top trends we saw on the red carpet, and the best looks out of those trends. Get ready to marvel at the beauty, we know we did.

Neutral Dresses

Christina Hendricks in Christian Siriano, Maggie Gyllenhaal in RM Roland Mouret, and Drew Barrymore in Atelier Versace proved that although fair in color neutral and rosy fabrics can be red hot. With their soft hues these dresses more easily get their dramatic flair from draping, origami-like folds, and modern embellishments.

Beaded and Shimmery Gowns

These ladies didn't need the dresses to shine, but the beads and shimmer certainly didn't hurt. Olivia Wilde in Gucci, Jenifer Garner in  Versace, and Toni Collette in Elie Saab all proved that a little shine can be very glamorous. Not only do we love the necklines on these dresses, we also admire the chic detailing and designs on each gown.

Volume

Whether it was a full skirt like Lea Michele's (far right) Oscar de la Renta gown with tulle, or smaller detailing like the ruffled bodice of  Diane Kruger's (middle) Christian Lacroix Haute  Couture gown, we saw volume popping up all over the Globes red carpet. Penelope Cruz went the middle of the road in volume with a beautifully intricate Giorgio Armani Prive lace gown with a tiered bottom.

With all lovely gowns we saw last night, we can't wait to see what the SAG Awards and Oscars will bring.
