What was she thinking? Carly Rae Jepsen's crop top and sheer skirt

She may be tied with Psy for song of year for 2012, but Carly’s performance outfit for her appearance on Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve surely won’t win her any accolades. The “Call Me Maybe” singer wore a black semi-sheer velvet crop top paired with an equally sheer red tulle Sachin + Babi Spring 2013 appliqué maxi. The skirt on its own is quite stellar, but seems to overwhelm Carly and certainly doesn’t go well with a crop top for a winter performance in New York City, even despite the star’s admission that she sported long johns underneath. We’re definitely not impressed with Carly’s ensemble, especially with the addition of statement earrings and those Madonna-era fingerless black lace gloves.
