Glitz and glamour certainly prevailed at the Oscars last night. Neutrals ruled the red carpet with pops of color coming mainly in shades of red and pink. Embellishments and ruffles were once again popular and stars sparkled in a variety of statement jewelry. Here’s an overview of some of the night’s fashions.

Anne Hathaway accepted her Oscar in this pale pink Prada column gown. Tiffany & Co. jewelry wrapped up the look. It wasn’t surprising that Jennifer Lawrence selected a Christian Dior Couture creation for the big event since she’s the face of the fashion house’s latest campaign. She accessorized with Chopard jewels, a Roger Vivier clutch and Brian Atwood shoes. Jessica Chastain shined in a custom Armani Privé embellished gown. Harry Winston gems and Christian Louboutin heels finished off her look.

Amy Adams impressed on the red carpet in a dramatic Oscar de la Renta gown. Moa jewelry polished off her captivating look. Charlize Theron opted for a structured Christian Dior Couture white gown featuring an embroidered peplum. Harry Winston jewels and Roger Vivier footwear completed the look. Elie Saab was behind Sandra Bullock’s embellished Spring 2013 Couture black gown. Harry Winston gems and a Swarovski clutch served as accessories.

Amanda Seyfried’s custom Alexander McQueen embroidered lilac halter gown included a keyhole detail. Her jewelry was by Lorraine Schwartz, while Roger Vivier was behind her sandals. Jennifer Garner was hard to miss on the red carpet thanks to her purple custom Gucci ruffled gown. She rounded out the look with a Roger Vivier clutch and Neil Lane jewels. Louis Vuitton’s blue strapless gown with black trim was Reese Witherspoon’s pick for the awards. Christian Louboutin Very Prive pumps capped off the look.

We love Amy Adams’ Oscar de la Renta, Jennifer Garner’s gorgeous Gucci and Jessica Chastain’s dynamic Armani Privé. Which star was your favorite?

Amanda-Seyfried-Los-Angeles-Feb-2013.jpgErin-Heatherton-JFK-Airport-Feb-2013.jpg

It’s a well-documented fact that celebs love Isabel Marant. So, it wasn’t exactly surprising when two stars were caught wearing an Étoile Isabel Marant Marley knit jacket, although it was a bit of a shock to get both of those sightings on the very same day. Amanda Seyfried was spotted in the colorful jacket meeting a friend for a night out in Los Angeles on Tuesday. She layered the piece over a gray top and added in a pair of jeans as well as black boots with red laces. We really love her chic glasses. Victoria’s Secret model Erin Heatherton was on the other side of the country at JFK Airport. Erin’s comfy travel ensemble included an oversized blue scarf, a gray T-shirt, skinny jeans and patterned sneakers.

We’re definitely coveting the cozy jacket and like Erin’s unexpected addition of a scarf to her laid-back airport look. Who do you think wore it best?

Amanda-Seyfried-Dirty-Laundry-Boots-Image-1.jpgWhile we’re accustomed to seeing celebrities wear something different every day, some of them do actually have favorite items they wear again and again. And in the case of Amanda Seyfried, we mean again … and again … and again … and on and on, at least nine times in the past few months! She’s been spotted in multiple cities, in multiple outfits, all with one thing in common: a pair of Dirty Laundry Preview Boots.

Just since September, we’ve counted at least seven outfits that Miss Seyfried teamed with these cool lace-up black moto boots. Some are a bit more sophisticated, some are just tees and jeans—but all have her signature stamp put on them with these boots. Just check out the evidence:

As you’ll notice, she’s worn some of the same other pieces too, like her destroyed blue jeans. But we love that she’s willing to wear things more than once—it makes her much more relatable.

And if you want your own pair of Dirty Laundry Preview boots, you can buy them for $79.99 at chineselaundry.com.

Amanda-Seyfried-Anne-Hathaway-Samantha-Barks-World-Premiere-of-Les-Miserables-London.jpgLes Misérables had its London premiere on Wednesday and the film’s three leading ladies each opted for very different looks on the red carpet. Amanda Seyfried certainly stood out in this black and white flamenco-inspired Balenciaga Spring 2013 ensemble. The actress combined her peplum-accented top and ruffled skirt with basic black pumps. The striking white satin Givenchy Spring 2012 Couture beaded gown Anne Hathaway wore featured dynamic cold-shoulders and an open back. Relative newcomer, Samantha Barks, went with this embellished long sleeve Stella McCartney. She styled her custom dark blue gown with a pair of Adler earrings and Jimmy Choo shoes.

We find ourselves most drawn to Anne’s out-of-the-box Givenchy creation. Which London look is your favorite?

Amanda Seyfried takes our breath away at the N.Y.C. premiere of her new movie Chloe in the ‘Isa Dress’ by RM by Roland Mouret. We thought we were in love with the dress from the front, but we fell even harder when we saw the back. Amanda, as usual, looks amazing and further emphasizes why we are always smitten with RM by Roland Mouret dresses.

Amanda Seyfried and Zoe Saldana show their love for luxury label Louis Vuitton at the Louis Vuitton private dinner held on the Rodeo Drive store’s rooftop last Saturday, wearing stylish looks from the latest 2010 collections.

Both ladies topped their fancy frocks with chic black jackets to give their look an edge. We love the sequins on Zoe’s Louis Vuitton jacket both for its unexpected glamour and great fit. Time and time again Louis Vuitton is a label that stars turn to for trendsetting looks and luxe accessories.

HBO2010goldenglobeparty.jpg

The next best thing to the Golden Globes red carpet is seeing all the looks at the after party. Here we look on the red carpet at HBO’s Golden Globes After Party to see the fashion-forward looks that popped up.

Some, like Golden Globes winner Chloe Sevingy ( third from the left) slipped out of their gown (a Valentino), into a party frock ( Christian Lacroix Haute Couture). Others, like Chloe’s co-star Amanda Seyfried (far left) in head to toe Valentino, and Anna Paquin (second from the left) in Stella McCartney, stayed the course in their Globes dresses. Lake Bell kept with the festive party vibe in her body conscious silver scoop neck cocktail dress and Christian Louboutin cage booties.

The looks and the vibe at the after party are a little more relaxed and a little more fun, but still just as dazzling as the main red carpet.

The glitz of last night’s Academy Awards red carpet was unreal. Bright color was noticeably absent, but volume and detail were not. In the rest of the country, the recession might be prompting people to pare down and simplify, but the economy certainly didn’t keep the stars from pulling out all the stops. Scroll down for our take on all the fabulous fashion.

The Battle Of The Dior Haute Couture Dresses

MarionSarah.jpg
Marion Cotillard and Sarah Jessica Parker both wore belted Dior Haute Couture gowns with yards and yards of tulle. Sarah Jessica called her dress “barely mint” and commented that the second Sex and the City movie is almost a certainty. Yippee.

Obviously we loved Marion’s mermaid dress last year, but we were glad to see she didn’t play it safe here either. As for Sarah Jessica, the fit of her bustier was a bit tight, but the color was very refreshing and we were glad she finally gave us Carrie-Bradshaw-glamor.

Watch Out For Marisa’s Train!

MarisaPenelope.jpg
Two of the most dramatic dresses of the night were worn by Marisa Tomei (Versace) and Penelope Cruz (vintage Balmain), who picked up a Best Supporting Actress win. We preferred Marisa’s beautiful pleated dress to Penelope’s wedding-dress-esque gown.

A Few Of Our Favorite Looks Of The Night

MileyAnne.jpg
Gosh, we really, really loved Miley Cyrus! The Bolt actress totally took us by surprise on the red carpet when she showed up in a stunning layered Zuhair Murad frock. Anne Hathaway was a little safe, but completely classic looking in her slinky Armani Prive dress and Taraji Henson looked simple and chic in her tiered dress (a little bridal though like Penelope - was that a trend?) and we would have picked a different clutch.

Their Jewelry Made Their Looks…

AmyAngelina.jpg
We’re not usually fans of red on the red carpet, but Amy Adams’ Carolina Hererra number was an exception to the rule. The dress was truly striking and her massive bejeweled Fred Leighton necklace complemented it really well. Tim Gunn even called her a “beacon for fashion” and we agree. Remember she topped our list last year too.

And Angelina Jolie! We thought she played it really safe with her black Elie Saab dress (until we saw the slit), but she also rocked huge green emerald earrings and a cocktail ring the size of a golf ball.

We Wanted To Love But Didn’t Really

KateandFreida.jpg
Kate Winslet and Freida Pinto. Both wore dresses with asymmetrical necklines - Kate in Yves Saint Laurent and Freida in John Galliano. But we just weren’t completely in love with either. By the way, besides the award for Best Actress, Kate wins our award for best beauty! Her makeup and hair were breathtakingly beautiful and her earrings were fab.

We loved the bright color of Freida’s dress, but we’re not huge fans of lace sleeves…especially just one of them. She might have been higher on our list then without the sleeve since we really loved the rest of the dress.

We Wanted To Love But Really Didn’t

JessicaAmanda.jpg
Jessica Biel and Amanda Seyfried’s large bows look like something we’ve seen many times before. And neither one of them did a very good job of picking out shoes to go with their dresses (Jess’ looked like black tennis shoes!). Although, we have to say it was kind of nice to see stars with hair that wasn’t so overdone, especially Jessica’s laid back locks.

Mamma Mia
finished second at the box office this weekend (no movie was going to top The Dark Knight) and everyone is buzzing around Meryl Streep’s fantastic performance.

Here she is with the film’s other star, Amanda Seyfried (wearing Amanda Wakely), at the red carpet premiere.
