TV’s most stylish stars stepped out on the red carpet at last night’s  64th Anuual Primetime Emmy Awards in lovely gowns to see who would take home TV’s highest honors. The gowns have progressively been getter better and better each year, giving the Oscar gowns a run for their money. This year we saw a lot of color and beautifully contoured gowns that showed off the stars’ fit frames.

HELLO SUNSHINE

Claire Danes
(and her baby bump), in Lanvin, Julie Bowen, in Monique Lhuillier, and Julianne Moore, in Dior Haute Couture all looked stunning in a bright marigold color that definitely stopped traffic. The color must have been lucky as each lovely lady above took home an award for their respective show/movie.

CHIC LBDs

Edie Falco in Stella McCartney and E! Host Giuliana Rancic in Romona Keveza turned the simple LBD  on its head in sleek black gowns with great detailing. Flattering side cut-outs and a shiny gold belt, and a super sexy slit take these gowns from ho hum to hot.

SEEING RED

Kat Dennings
, in J.Mendel, Gretchen Mol and Julia Dreyfus, in Vera Wang show us the beauty in varying shades of red. One thing all the ruby gowns had in common was their beautiful draping and ultra flattering bodices. With gowns this red hot the ladies kept their accessories to a minimum with Kat showing off wearing a luxe gold cuff and red lips, Gretchen letting her shoes shine and Julia wearing a pair of pretty drop earrings.

THE LITTLE MERMAIDS

Kelly Osbourne and Allison Williams  (even Julie Bowen above) dazzled in body con dresses with fun trains. Kelly really steals the show here in what is perhaps one of our favorite looks on her yet, and Kelly being Kelly got her tresses to match.

Over the weekend, many celebrities came together at a fundraising event for Stand Up To Cancer. We love that they all found a way to put a personal stamp on the event’s signature tanks and short-sleeved shirts—even though they were all wearing the same thing from the waist up, they all looked totally unique.

Gabby-Douglas-Gwyneth-Paltrow-SUTC.jpgOur absolute favorite person on the red carpet? Hands down, Gwyneth Paltrow. We love her kicky flared skirt and the heels are to die for! Olympian Gabby Douglas looked adorable as always, pairing her grey tee with faded bootcut jeans that made her legs look a mile long. (And we love her red nails!)

Minka Kelly, Jennie Garth and Alicia Keys all were fairly casual on the red carpet, but they all of course still looked fabulous! We love Minka’s ponytail with side bangs, which give her sporty tank top a girly vibe. Jennie teamed her grey tee with white jeans and a fun bangle, while dark-lined eyes and bleached blonde locks gave her a rocker vibe. And Alicia added a red lip and a deep side part for a fashion-forward take on her form-fitting black tee.

Katy Perry
, in Elie Saab, Rihanna, Miley Cyrus, in Emilio Pucci and Taylor Swift in a J. Mendel suit and Tom Ford heels surprised us last night on the red carpet for the 2012 MTV Video Music Awards in really elegant looks. We’re so used to trendy and gimmicky getups that we had to rub our eyes to make sure we really watching the VMAs. In sharp contrast Katy and Miley (sporting her new radical ‘do) went dark in chic evening gowns with intricate detailing, while Rihanna and Taylor kept in bright in crisp white looks that showed off their curves.

What did you think of last night’s looks at the VMAs? Do you think all the polished and elegant looks is a new trend we’ll see in VMAs to come, or just a passing trend that is as fleeting as an artist keeping their spot in an MTV video countdown.

Elisabeth-Moss-Jessie-J-GQ-Men-Of-The-Year-Awards.jpgThe GQ Men of the Year Awards might be about men, but on the red carpet, it was the women who really sizzled! Mad Men’s Elisabeth Moss and singer Jessie J both showed up in long gowns with seriously high, sexy slits, vamping it up even further with bold lips.

Jessie J’s tuxedo style dress by Emilio Pucci not only had her flashing a whole lotta leg, but took her look in a much more sophisticated direction than of late. And we, for one, are loving it! The dress was sexy but not over the top, and the sleek bob and bold red lip accented it perfectly.

Elisabeth Moss’s one-shoulder Grecian gown was an arresting shade of tomato red, with a thigh-high slit that was attention-grabbing but still restrained. Her new blonde pixie cut could wash her fair features out, but with a bold red lip, all bets were off!

What do you think of the high slit and bold lip combo seen on Jessie J and Elisabeth Moss?
Jamie-Chung-Dania-Ramirez-Cutouts.jpgAt the premiere of the new movie Premium Rush last week, starlets Dania Ramirez and Jamie Chung had one thing in common (besides looking gorgeous, of course): cutout dresses! We love that their dresses played off each other but were still so different.

Jamie wore a cobalt dress with both midriff and shoulder cutouts by Cushnie et Ochs, teaming it with Zara cap toe pumps. Dania was fiery in a long red dress with center cutout and ruched detailing by Rolando Santana. We love the bold gold jewelry she paired it with, although we do wish the dress’s hemline was hiked up a bit to show her shoes and not trail on the carpet!

What do you think of the cutout look? Is this something you might try?
