The Met Gala may have been last week, but as the red carpet was filled with the world’s biggest celebrities and fashion connoisseurs, we’re still digesting all of the trends! And there were quite a few to behold this time around. From mountains of feathers to bright, juicy colors, these are the trends from the red carpet that are worth taking a second look.

Spangled-Gowns-Met-Gala.jpgSpangled gowns
Is there any better way to bring the drama than in a gorgeous spangled gown? Camilla Belle (in Ralph Lauren), Cameron Diaz (in Stella McCartney), Karolina Kurkova (in Rachel Zoe), Kate Upton (in Michael Kors) and Jessica Pare (in L’Wren Scott) certainly didn’t think so.

Feathered-Dresses-1-Met-Gala.jpgFeathered-Dresses-2-Met-Gala.jpgFeathers, feathers everywhere
For a dose of added drama, some celebrities went for mountains of feathers attached to their gowns. Check out Beyonce (in Givenchy Haute Couture), Kate Bosworth (in Prada), Diane Kruger (also in Prada), Cate Blanchett (in Alexander McQueen) and Amy Poehler (in Fotini.) Some may say this trend is better left to the birds, but we think these ladies pulled it off!

White-Dresses-Met-Gala.jpgWhite gowns
There just isn’t a more ethereal, angelic hue than white. And while some may consider it boring on the red carpet, these three starlets definitely took chances with such a safe color! We’re loving the looks by Ashley Greene (in Donna Karan Atelier), Claire Danes (in J. Mendel, with husband Hugh Dancy) and stylesetter Rachel Zoe (in her own design).

Yellow-Met-Gala.jpgBright, sunny yellow
Is there a more “notice me” color than yellow? We don’t think so, and neither did January Jones (in Atelier Versace), Coco Rocha (in Givenchy, previously owned by Elizabeth Taylor) and Solange Knowles (in Rachel Roy, with the designer).

Girly-Details-Met-Gala.jpgGirly details
Tulle, ruffles and other girly, flirty details were all the rage on the red carpet. Sometimes it’s just really nice to enjoy being a girl! At least that’s what Leslie Mann (in Nina Ricci), Scarlett Johansson (in Dolce & Gabbana), Leighton Meester (in Marchesa) and Dakota Fanning (in Louis Vuitton) thought.

gwyneth-paltrow-prada-costume-met-ball.jpg

Gwyneth Paltrow arrived at Monday night’s Costume Institute Gala looking like a modern version of Judy Jetson, in an out-of-this-world silver Prada mini dress. We love that this slick dress is simple and stylish yet just fashion-forward enough to keep our attention with the disc detailing at the hips. With a rockin bod to showcase, Gwyneth keeps her accessories at a minimum with a simple pair of diamond hoop earrings.

2012-White-House-Correspondence-Dinner.jpg

Some of  the most stylish stars attended the White House Correspondent’s Association Dinner in Washington D.C. on Saturday.  Elizabeth Banks, Charlize Theron, in Emilio Pucci, Kate Hudson, in Jenny Packham and Reese Witherspoon all looked lovely in beautiful understated gowns. We love all the form fitting silhouettes with intricate detailing (checkout the beading on Charlize’s gown), and the simple makeup and accessories.

Glaad-Media-Awards-Style.jpg

Beauty maven and Bravo TV personality Tabitha Coffey, Ali Larter, and Milla Jovovich worked the red carpet at Saturday’s 23rd Annual Glaad Media Awards looking understated and chic. Tabitha and Milla chose long expertly draped looks while Ali showed off her gams in a short ruby dress.

Color-Red-Carpet-Jayma-Mays-Audrina-Patridge.jpgWe love when celebrities play with color on the red carpet. There’s absolutely nothing wrong with neutral hues, but to see some of them having fun with color is just so refreshing. That’s why we’re totally loving the choices Audrina Patridge and Jayma Mays made at different events recently!

Jayma showed up to the “My Valentine” video premiere in a fairly simple LBD. But her look was anything but basic, thanks to an oversized envelope clutch trimmed in royal blue and juicily bright lemon-hued strappy heels!

Audrina’s look for the premiere of The Avengers was bold, bright and extremely colorful. She teamed her body-conscious red frock with an envelope clutch and pointy-toed heels in contrasting shades of pink. We’re loving the contrast of pink and red tones here.

It’s interesting that, while one look is definitely more vibrant than the other, each stood out in its own right on the red carpet. Would you try either of these looks?
