How do you make cutoffs dressy? Just add opaque tights and booties like stylish stars Katie Holmes and Nicole Richie have done above. We like that each star paired her cutoffs with a pretty blouse, and added an extra element like a colorful scarf and a crochet vest.

Adding the tights makes what could be an ultra casual piece look nicer and more fashionable. The tights also extend the wear of the cutoffs, which typically would only be worn in hot weather. We expect to see this look on both coasts for fun spring and summer dressing.

Want the look? Here are some affordable cutoffs worth trying.

We’re all for a great polished hairstyle straight from the salon, but lately we’ve been loving the new messy ‘dos we’ve seen in Hollywood. We especially love the messy side braids seen above on Nicole Richie and British singer Leona Lewis.

Not only is this look effortlessly chic, but it only gets chicer the more unraveled and messier it gets.We suggest letting your hair air dry and then pulling it loosely to the side letting pieces naturally fall around your face. Next, make a low traditional or fishtail braid (like Leona’s wearing) and you’re done!

This spring the red carpet has been getting a break from the basic black it usually sees. Stars of all ages have been embracing hues of yellow.

Above Selena Gomez and Maria Bello wear yellow on the red carpet at Nickelodeon’s 23rd Annual Kids’ Choice Awards, while actress Carla Gallo wore yellow on the red carpet to celebrate the 100th episode of Bones.

We’re a fan of the light airy fabric these ladies chose and the bright mood the color gives the looks.
