The popular peplum trend is already getting a makeover. Designers are experimenting with flashy accents, layers, and complementing cut-outs.The daring Sally LaPointe Fall 2012 dress Carrie Underwood selected as one of her 11 outfits for the 46th Annual CMA Awards included a cut-out detail right above that futuristic peplum. This black feathered version from Alexander McQueen helped Bond girl Bérénice Marlohe stand out at her film’s Paris photocall. Jennifer Garner showcased the more work-friendly split take on the trend at Variety’s 4th Annual Power of Women event in a textured sleeveless Givenchy. We love the ever-expanding variations on this fashion-forward look.

Gwyneth-Paltrow-Dania-Ramirez-Leather-Dresses.jpgTrending on the red carpet right now? Leather. But not just any leather. Black leather. And not just any black leather … but black leather dresses. The black leather dress is sexy, chic, sophisticated, cool, moto-inspired … it’s a lot, to say the least! And these two starlets definitely got it right.

Gwyneth Paltrow always looks amazing on the red carpet, and at the Boss Nuit Pour Femme fragrance launch, this was no exception. Her Boss leather dress is futuristic and super cool, thanks to the fitted bodice, intricate paneling, cap sleeves and flared skirt.

Dania Ramirez went for a different take on the trend at the Wreck-It Ralph premiere, opting for a sleeveless leather trench dress with off-center zipper. We love the spread collar and belted silhouette—and the bold fuchsia booties, too!
Amy-Adams-Cameron-Diaz-Victoria-Justice-Yellow-Dresses.jpgYellow is certainly the color of the moment! It’s been experiencing quite the red carpet takeover ever since the Emmys. And we’re personally loving the sunny hue in the wake of all the greyness and rain the country is experiencing this week. As, it would appear, are some celebs!

Amy Adams went to the LACMA 2012 Art + Film Gala honoring Ed Ruscha and Stanley Kubrick in a gorgeous strapless yellow gown by Gucci. We love the jeweled belt and her wavy tresses, too.
Also at the LACMA gala, Cameron Diaz chose a yellow dress by Gucci! (It might have had something to do with the fact that Gucci hosted the event—dozens of starlets showed up in the line.) We’re loving the bell sleeves and trench-like silhouette of this dress.
For the premiere of her new movie Fun Size, Victoria Justice certainly stood out in a bright yellow sleeveless sheath by Versace. Plus, we’re loving her shorter hairdo!

Kerry Washington, Jessica Biel and Jessica Alba all look fab rocking the latest shoe trend for fall: cap toe pumps. This classic wardrobe staple with a twist adds instant panache to any look. Jessica B has fun by pairing hers with a print dress for a fashion-forward and flirty look, while Jessica A keeps it sleek and sophisticated with a more subdued pair that plays off her look. We’re not partial to pointy toes or round ones, we love them all the same. This look is a great but safe way to have fun with your work look and still be office appropriate. This trend also works out of the office as well for a funky ensemble for a night out, or to jazz up a basic sheath for a day event (like Kerry does above left).

trendspotting-oxblood.jpg
Girls star Allison Williams, at Peter Som, Jessica Alba, in Doc Martens and Miranda Kerr show us three ways to wear the color of the season. Deeper than red but lighter than plum, Oxblood is rich and chic and is turning up all over Hollywood and in stores. We think this hue is a great way to make a departure from black without feeling too bright. Not sure you’re ready to go head-to-toe oxblood? Then make like Miranda and grab an oxblood bag. Check out our favorite oxblood bags in the Fall handbag guide.
