What was she thinking? Eva Mendes weighs down her Valentino dress

Eva-Mendes-Vogue-Eyewear-Celebrate-Campaign-Launch-Beverly-Hills-March-2013.jpgEva has just been unveiled as the new face for Vogue Eyewear and attended the launch of the brand’s Spring/Summer Communications Campaign in Beverly Hills on Wednesday. Her yellow and pink floral macramé lace Valentino dress included a tulle bodice insert as well as a scalloped hem. We adore the pretty Resort 2013 creation, but find Eva’s velvet pumps a bit of a distraction. Her footwear’s burgundy hue doesn’t really fit in with the fresh vibe of the dress. That ornate gold Dolce & Gabbana clutch also seems to be competing with rather than complementing the rest of the look.

Do you agree that the actress should have opted for a spring sandal or do you like her slightly out-of-season take?

Steal this style: Celebs go wild for Madewell's zebra sweater

A truly fun take on animal print, Madewell’s Zebra Love pullover is becoming a celeb must-have item. The oversized camel-colored crewneck long sleeve sweater features two zebras on the front and has already been spotted on Nikki Reed as well as Charlize Theron. Nikki arrived at LAX back in February in the cotton pullover accented by gray pants, a maroon bag and knee-high black boots. Charlize just wore the sweater while carrying her son Jackson around Los Angeles earlier this week. She wrapped up her look with a pair of Current/Elliott’s The Multi Zip Stiletto pants and Joie printed loafers.

We love the surprisingly versatile printed piece and its $80 asking price.

Love it or hate it: Kaley Cuoco's revealing Monique Lhuillier gown

Kaley-Cuoco-Academy-of-Television-Arts-and-Sciences-22nd-Annual-Hall-of-Fame-Induction-Gala.jpgThe Big Bang Theory star played host for the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences 22nd Hall of Fame Induction Gala and made quite an impression on the red carpet. Kaley’s black embellished Monique Lhuillier Fall 2012 gown featured a cut-out detail at the waist accented by a leather waistband. She polished off the look with Elahn jewelry, a Kotur clutch and Brian Atwood heels. We actually really love Kaley’s Monique Lhuillier creation, but wonder if it was the right choice for an event where she’s serving as the host. Her styling was also a bit lackluster. A sophisticated updo might have taken the whole look up a notch.

Stripes are one of those revolving trends, frequently fluctuating in and out of style. Well, stripes are officially “in” again, thanks to the recent runway shows and all the stars sitting in the coveted front row. Take Nicole Richie’s black and white striped Stella McCartney Pre-Fall 2013 dress at the designer’s Fall 2013 Paris presentation. Olivia Palermo also opted for stripes at Christian Dior, but her Christian Dior Spring 2013 creation included a nice pink contrast. The stripe sensation was already making the red carpet rounds last month. It was a strapless wide-leg Chanel jumpsuit for Rosie Huntington-Whiteley at the 2013 Chanel Pre-Oscar Dinner in February.

Sleek stripes were also spotted on the Oscar red carpet. Halle Berry arrived for this year’s ceremony decked out in a custom silver and black striped Atelier Versace gown. At the infamous Vanity Fair party, Fan Bingbing made quite an impression in this Oscar de la Renta Spring 2013 ball gown. There’s certainly no sign this trend will be slowing down anytime soon. Nina Dobrev just showed her stripes over the weekend at the John Varvatos 10th Annual Stuart House Benefit in Los Angeles with an eye-catching Elie Saab dress from the Spring 2013 collection.

The Girls actress combined the designer’s floral printed top with a matching pencil skirt and also added a wide black belt. She accessorized with a pair of metallic cap-toe heels by Schutz. Allison’s multifaceted graphic ensemble earns rave reviews on our end, especially since both standout pieces work just as well with basic separates.
