We can always count on Leighton Meester for a little fashion inspiration. Above, at the HTC Serves Up NYC Product Launch Event, she takes a basic black t-shirt and a romantic printed skirt and kicks it up a notch with over-the-top beaded sandals. This is just the kind of look that will pop in dreary crisp weather.

We really don’t understand anything about this dress (the Acne Emile Dress). The strange yellow hue, the blousy fit, the one long sleeve … all wouldn’t be so bad, if it weren’t for the really awful hemline. We’re not fans of the mullet hem anyway, but especially not when the back is cut out to look like a frock coat and actually just looks like it was destroyed by a pair of scissors.
If you look closely enough, you’ll notice Solange painted her nails to match her dress, which we’re also not fans of—we just don’t like matching nail polish to our clothing that closely.
Actress Paz de la Huerta, who stars on the HBO series Boardwalk Empire, scores points with us in her lovely peach gown and full tresses at the network’s Emmy Awards afterparty, but misses the mark with her bare face and grayish lipstick. What was she thinking?
We love Aimee’s new dark tresses—they really suit her a lot more than the blonde actually did. But what we’re really loving in both these red carpet outings is her chic, sophisticated style.
At the BAFTA Los Angeles Tea Party, Aimee paired a hot pink silk tank with a pleated maxi skirt and a bold statement necklace. For the Emmy Awards Performers Nominee Reception, she went for a plum silk blouse, curve-hugging miniskirt and lacquered pumps.
What we love the most is Aimee’s ability to show just the right amount of skin, looking chic and sexy yet completely appropriate at the same time. Both of these looks would be perfect for cocktails, a first date or even work in a more casual work environment.
