Robert-Verdi.jpg We had so much fun hanging out with celebrity stylist Robert Verdi this week as he unveiled his top Valentine’s Day date and gift ideas. The go-to style guru for A-listers like Eva Longoria, Hugh Jackman, Mariska Hargitay and more, not only is Robert a trendsetter, he’s also beyond hysterical.

Here are some of his creative date ideas for every budget:

$50 Date Idea: Dinner from the local pizzeria and a chick flick. Celebrate with a Fragoli Passion Cocktail (1 oz. Fragoli Wild Strawberry Liqueur + 4 oz. Prosecco). Yum!

$50 Date Idea: Invite your date over for a pre-dinner drink, but instead of going out, surprise them with their favorite meal by candlelight in an unusual part of your home - coffee table, terrace, by the fireplace or even the bedroom.

$100 Date Idea: Find a local day spa and treat yourselves to a shared sensual experience with a side-by-side massage.

$200 Date Idea: A mystery date-trip: give your sweetie a guide in advance instructing what to bring and wear, but leave each destination and activity a surprise.

$500 Date Idea: A romantic stay-cation: surprise your sweetheart with a key to a hotel suite where you’ve placed your sweetie’s favorite flowers, some sexy lingerie and a bottle of champagne.

Tomorrow, we’ll share Robert’s favorite gift ideas for every budget. Also, be sure to check out Robert’s new show debuting February 10th on the Logo Channel (you will love it!)

The black cocktail dress Julia Roberts wore to Sunday’s Golden Globe Awards can hardly be called memorable, but we can’t stop thinking about her gorgeous chunky pendant necklace. Her look shows how a fabulous statement necklace can elevate even the most simple outfit.

Take a cue from Julia’s chic look by adding one of these long statement necklaces to your little black dress, or even a t-shirt and jeans:

The next best thing to the Golden Globes red carpet is seeing all the looks at the after party. Here we look on the red carpet at HBO’s Golden Globes After Party to see the fashion-forward looks that popped up.

Some, like Golden Globes winner Chloe Sevingy ( third from the left) slipped out of their gown (a Valentino), into a party frock ( Christian Lacroix Haute Couture). Others, like Chloe’s co-star Amanda Seyfried (far left) in head to toe Valentino, and Anna Paquin (second from the left) in Stella McCartney, stayed the course in their Globes dresses. Lake Bell kept with the festive party vibe in her body conscious silver scoop neck cocktail dress and Christian Louboutin cage booties.

The looks and the vibe at the after party are a little more relaxed and a little more fun, but still just as dazzling as the main red carpet.

The 2010 Awards season kicked off yesterday evening with the Golden Globe Awards. As usual the red carpet did not disappoint. Below are some of the top trends we saw on the red carpet, and the best looks out of those trends. Get ready to marvel at the beauty, we know we did.

Neutral Dresses

Christina Hendricks in Christian Siriano, Maggie Gyllenhaal in RM Roland Mouret, and Drew Barrymore in Atelier Versace proved that although fair in color neutral and rosy fabrics can be red hot. With their soft hues these dresses more easily get their dramatic flair from draping, origami-like folds, and modern embellishments.

Beaded and Shimmery Gowns

These ladies didn’t need the dresses to shine, but the beads and shimmer certainly didn’t hurt. Olivia Wilde in Gucci, Jenifer Garner in  Versace, and Toni Collette in Elie Saab all proved that a little shine can be very glamorous. Not only do we love the necklines on these dresses, we also admire the chic detailing and designs on each gown.

Volume

Whether it was a full skirt like Lea Michele’s (far right) Oscar de la Renta gown with tulle, or smaller detailing like the ruffled bodice of  Diane Kruger’s (middle) Christian Lacroix Haute  Couture gown, we saw volume popping up all over the Globes red carpet. Penelope Cruz went the middle of the road in volume with a beautifully intricate Giorgio Armani Prive lace gown with a tiered bottom.

With all lovely gowns we saw last night, we can’t wait to see what the SAG Awards and Oscars will bring.

Lavenderdresses.jpg

Just in time for spring, stylish celebs have been popping up on the red carpet in various hues of lavender. Hayden Panettiere first wooed us at the Hollywood Style Awards in her cap sleeved Dennis Brasso sheath. Next, The Hills star Kristin Cavallari worked a lavender mini to her 23rd birthday party. Finally, we saw Kimora Lee Simmons walk the red carpet in a lavender Herve Leger dress at Friday’s 2010 Winter Television Critics Association Press Tour.

As evidenced above, the hue works great on many different complexions and has such a softer touch than the typical LBD. We expect to see this color continue to grace the red carpet and Hollywood events.
