It’s likely that Michelle Obama’s most heavily scrutinized fashion choice will come today, as she stands next to Barack Obama as he takes the Oath of Office. The world will be watching, not just here in America, but around the world. And based on her previous styles, we’re guessing Michelle won’t be looking to blend in.
Throughout her husband’s historic campaign, Michelle has been a fan of bold solids. She wears bright colors very well and for Michelle, the simpler the design, the better. We think she’ll stick with what she loves and wear a solid color coat in a bright hue by Maria Pinto.

Don’t forget though, that Michelle loves shopping on a budget. Here she is (from left to right), in H&M, J.Crew and White House Black Market. We think Michelle will keep wearing low-cost outfits throughout her time as First Lady, but probably not at the inauguration. Of course, we’re sure she’s got a very expensive gown lined up for the balls…so how great would it be to wear a Banana Republic or J.Crew coat?
