The Met Gala may have been last week, but as the red carpet was filled with the world’s biggest celebrities and fashion connoisseurs, we’re still digesting all of the trends! And there were quite a few to behold this time around. From mountains of feathers to bright, juicy colors, these are the trends from the red carpet that are worth taking a second look.

Spangled-Gowns-Met-Gala.jpgSpangled gowns
Is there any better way to bring the drama than in a gorgeous spangled gown? Camilla Belle (in Ralph Lauren), Cameron Diaz (in Stella McCartney), Karolina Kurkova (in Rachel Zoe), Kate Upton (in Michael Kors) and Jessica Pare (in L’Wren Scott) certainly didn’t think so.

Feathered-Dresses-1-Met-Gala.jpgFeathered-Dresses-2-Met-Gala.jpgFeathers, feathers everywhere
For a dose of added drama, some celebrities went for mountains of feathers attached to their gowns. Check out Beyonce (in Givenchy Haute Couture), Kate Bosworth (in Prada), Diane Kruger (also in Prada), Cate Blanchett (in Alexander McQueen) and Amy Poehler (in Fotini.) Some may say this trend is better left to the birds, but we think these ladies pulled it off!

White-Dresses-Met-Gala.jpgWhite gowns
There just isn’t a more ethereal, angelic hue than white. And while some may consider it boring on the red carpet, these three starlets definitely took chances with such a safe color! We’re loving the looks by Ashley Greene (in Donna Karan Atelier), Claire Danes (in J. Mendel, with husband Hugh Dancy) and stylesetter Rachel Zoe (in her own design).

Yellow-Met-Gala.jpgBright, sunny yellow
Is there a more “notice me” color than yellow? We don’t think so, and neither did January Jones (in Atelier Versace), Coco Rocha (in Givenchy, previously owned by Elizabeth Taylor) and Solange Knowles (in Rachel Roy, with the designer).

Girly-Details-Met-Gala.jpgGirly details
Tulle, ruffles and other girly, flirty details were all the rage on the red carpet. Sometimes it’s just really nice to enjoy being a girl! At least that’s what Leslie Mann (in Nina Ricci), Scarlett Johansson (in Dolce & Gabbana), Leighton Meester (in Marchesa) and Dakota Fanning (in Louis Vuitton) thought.

Kourtney-Kardashian-Bandage-Dress.jpg

Say what you want about the Kardashian clan, but don’t say they aren’t stylish. Even pregnancy, as evidenced by Kourtney Kardashian’s baby bump at left, doesn’t stop these sisters from on-trend stylish looks.

Instead of hiding in a mumu Kourtney accentuates her bump in a curve hugging bandage dress, oversized boyfriend blazer and knee high leather boots. She finishes off her look with a simple bangle and her Balenciaga Work bag.

We love the use of proportion here with a form fitting dress and loose blazer, and we also appreciate that she isn’t hiding in dark colors.

Lindsay-Beyonce-coral-lips.jpg

Lindsay Lohan and Beyonce show off their coral puckers on the red carpet in two different ways. Lindsay goes for a mod (and extremely tan) look with frosted eyeshadow, heavy liner, and frosted coral lips, while Beyonce works a fresh faced look with rosy cheeks and coral gloss.

Kaley-Cuoco-Carrie-Underwood-Spangled-Tops.jpgKaley Cuoco and Carrie Underwood are getting a little glitzy on the red carpet! Both were spotted recently in gorgeous spangled tops that really made them stand out.

We’re loving Kaley’s sheer black blouse by Naeem Khan. The oversized paillettes look so glamorous with lace-printed pants and black leather booties. Carrie’s taupe top is given added pizzazz with silver squares, and toned down just a bit with skinny jeans and cutout peep-toes.

This trend is a great way to add just a touch of drama to your look day or night.

gwyneth-paltrow-prada-costume-met-ball.jpg

Gwyneth Paltrow arrived at Monday night’s Costume Institute Gala looking like a modern version of Judy Jetson, in an out-of-this-world silver Prada mini dress. We love that this slick dress is simple and stylish yet just fashion-forward enough to keep our attention with the disc detailing at the hips. With a rockin bod to showcase, Gwyneth keeps her accessories at a minimum with a simple pair of diamond hoop earrings.
