Summer hair shouldn’t be complicated – it should be easy and chic, without a great deal of effort. Sweeping hair up into a ponytail takes only a few minutes, but can be glamorous enough to walk the red carpet – just ask Cameron Diaz!
To start, wash and spray damp hair with a texturizing spray gel, such as Frederic Fekkai Coiff Bouffant Spray Gel ($23, beauty.com). Blow dry with a large round natural bristle brush in sections. Add volume to the crown by using a teasing brush. Philips Three Row Teasing Brush ($4.99, SallyBeauty.com) is ideal. Pull hair back and secure in clear elastic. Take a small lock of hair from the bottom of the pony and wrap it around the base of the ponytail to cover the elastic, secure with a bobby pin. You can pull out face framing pieces easily, or keep it all pulled back.
