Clearly, we were fed a line of something when they told us that our breakouts would clear up once we got out of our teenage years. In between pregnancy, nursing, and day to day stressful life, just about anyone will get a breakout here or there. Here are our top five products to stop those pimples in their tracks.
Kate Somerville EradiKate, $22, is a pimple killing potion. Sulfur, while not the best smelling thing out there, is fantastic for reducing and eradicating breakouts, and EradiKate has the most sulfur available in a preparation. Apply at night and wake up to clearer skin.
Murad Acne Spot Treatment, $18, has not only sulfur, but salicylic acid, the gold standard beta hydroxy acid for clearing pimples. Licorice and zinc oxide in the formula helps to calm redness and make those spots less noticeable while the formula does it’s business. Apply morning and night, unless skin becomes too dry, then just apply once a day.
Bliss No ‘Zit’ Sherlock Correcting Serum, $35, doesn’t just target existing acne, but the spots and hyperpigmentation that acne leaves behind. Boasting salicylic acid and probiotics, this wonder cream works to eliminate the appearance of pores too. As a bonus, it’s formulated without parabens, sulfates, triclosan, and other unnatural ingredients.
Boo Boo Zap by Benefit Cosmetics, $20, combines our hero salicylic acid with camphor to give you major zit-battling power. You can apply this as soon as you feel a pimple brewing – even through makeup – and don’t go to bed without it.
First Aid Beauty Blemish Eraser, $16, is for those who don’t understand the hoopla around salicylic acid for acne. It’s true – it doesn’t work for everyone. For them, the Blemish Eraser is brilliant. No nasty ingredients like parabens or sulfites, just a combination of aloe, witch hazel, and benzoil peroxide (3.5%). Bumps will be dried up in no time with consistent use.
