Halloween Make Up Ideas, Part 1 (Lady Gaga and Harajuku Girls)

When is there a better time to experiment with fun and crazy make up looks than Halloween? We came up with four cool Halloween beauty ideas. Here are the first two – check back Thursday for the rest!

1. Lady Gaga

If you want to dress up as this daring fashionista, a wig similar to her signature blonde, pin-straight look with bangs is a must-have.
After the hair, your eyes will be the focal point of your costume. Sweep a shimmering eye shadow, like Smashbox Single Eye Shadow Platinum ($16) on your lids. Next, carefully apply big fake lashes, like Sephora Brand Glitter Lashes ($8). To complete your eyes, rim the bottom with heavy black liner, like Bare Escentuals Buxom Insider Eyeliner Onyxr in Onyx ($14), and smudge it a little with a cotton swab.
Finish with lip gloss and a touch of bronzer on your cheeks.
Complete your costume with a leotard or short dress!
2. Harajuku Girl
Gwen Stefani’s Harajuku Girls are another example of pop culture icons that translate into cute Halloween costumes. The crazy outfit and accessories will be up to you, but here’s a fun idea for your make up.
This look will be best with darker hair , so if your hair is lighter try a temporary dye or a wig. Slick your hair back into a bun and accessorize with funky headbands or a hat.
For your eyes, apply a thin line of eye liner, like MAKE UP FOR EVER Kohl Pencil Black 1 ($17), on the bottom rim, then lightly swipe on one coat of black mascara, like Smashbox Lash DNA Mascara Midnight Black ($9). Under your eye liner, line eyes with sky-blue eye shadow, like Urban Decay Eyeshadow Minx ($16). Then, apply a pink shadow, like Urban Decay Eyeshadow Hotpants, from the outer corner of your eye to the outside of your temple in a large circle (like in the above photo).
Apply a shiny red lipstick, like Hourglass Adorn Hydrating Lipstick Icon ($24), just to the center of your lips to make them look very tiny. Finish the look with pressed powder to set your make up perfectly!
