Sheer accents are certainly nothing new on the red carpet, but lately stars have been layering nude panels underneath rather revealing black dresses with varying degrees of success. Analeigh Tipton made an appearance at the Los Angeles premiere of The Grandmaster at the end of last week outfitted in a black netted Alberta Ferretti Fall 2013 embroidered dress over a neutral underlay. The actress capped off the look with bronze satin Casadei pointed-toe pumps. Rosamund Pike also attended her film’s Los Angeles unveiling last week and made quite an impression in this black Marios Schwab Resort 2014 dress with sheer bodice as well as staple details. Her nude panel really stood out as opposed to her basic black Jimmy Choo Anouk pumps. Tennis ace Maria Sharapova launched her Sugarpova Accessory Collection at Henri Bendel in New York City earlier in the week wearing a black and blue David Koma Fall 2013 creation with flared skirt accented by black Rupert Sanderson Elba pumps. She covered up under that sheer bodice with a nude layer, which was clearly visible even as she posed with her now expanded range of products.
We really like Maria’s David Koma, but are a bit disappointed that her nude panel didn’t match her skin tone a bit more. Do you like the layered look or do you think these celebs should have kept it all black?
