Red carpet: 71st Golden Globe Awards

This year’s awards included dramatic gowns, strategic embellishments and dazzling statement jewelry. Pretty much what we’ve come to expect from the annual star-studded affair. Red was a popular color choice, while neutrals were amped up with lace and other accents. Here are some of the top looks from last night’s ceremony.

Award winner Cate Blanchett impressed in a black lace Armani Privé Fall 2013 tulle gown. She artfully accessorized with Chopard earrings and Jimmy Choo pumps. Sandra Bullock kept the colorblock trend going with this bold Prabal Gurung Pre-Fall 2014 gown. Lorraine Schwartz jewelry and black Jimmy Choo ankle strap sandals rounded out the look. It was a striking red Ralph Lauren Spring 2014 creation for Lupita Nyong’o. Fred Leighton jewels and Paul Andrew shoes polished off the look.

Jennifer Lawrence once again opted for Christian Dior. Her white Fall 2013 Couture strapless gown with two black ribbons was accented by a black clutch. Valentino was the source of the red halter gown Amy Adams wore to the awards. Lorraine Schwartz gems and Brian Atwood Tribeca platform sandals served as accessories. Kerry Washington revealed her growing baby bump in Balenciaga. The fashion house’s crisp gown with sparkling brooch on the bodice was styled with Fred Leighton jewelry and Casadei sandals.

Olivia Wilde also proudly displayed her baby bump in a green Gucci Première Spring 2014 embellished gown. Forevermark jewels, an Emm Kuo clutch and Charlotte Olympia footwear completed the look. Prabal Gurung’s Spring 2014 embroidered dress helped Zoe Saldana stand out on the red carpet. Lorraine Schwartz gems, a pink clutch by Bottega Veneta and coordinating Christian Louboutin pumps finished off the look. Reese Witherspoon’s aqua Calvin Klein Collection dress featured a sleek T-back. Harry Winston jewels wrapped up the look.

We were surprised how many celebs stunned on the red carpet. Even though it’s hard to pick just a few favorites, we loved Cate’s elaborate Armani Privé, Sandra’s structured Prabal Gurung and Lupita’s dynamic Ralph Lauren creation. Who do you think deserves this year’s best dressed title?
