Concentrated pops of color and metallics stole the spotlight at last night’s Oscars. Custom creations and statement-making couture gowns punctuated the red carpet with heavy embellishments offering a nice polish to a majority of looks. Here’s a review of some of the more memorable ensembles from last night’s show.
Best Supporting Actress winner Lupita Nyong’o opted for a heavenly custom baby blue Prada pleated gown for the ceremony. Prada even supplied the star’s satin platform sandals, while Fred Leighton was the source of her jewelry. Cate Blanchett accepted her award in an intricately embroidered Armani Privé. Chopard jewels rounded out the look. It was a navy Alexander McQueen sweetheart gown for Sandra Bullock out in Los Angeles. Lorraine Schwartz gems wrapped up the look.
Amy Adams selected a dark blue Gucci Première strapless gown for the festivities. She concluded her look with Tiffany & Co. jewelry. Angelina Jolie’s Elie Saab Fall 2013 Couture embellished gown helped her stand out from the fashionable crowd. The actress capped off the luxe look with a pair of Salvatore Ferragamo heels. Atelier Versace’s plunging gown with draped cape was Kate Hudson‘s pick for the awards. Neil Lane jewels and Jimmy Choo Vibe sandals served as accessories.
Jennifer Lawrence naturally went with Christian Dior Couture last night. Her red strapless peplum gown was teamed with a diamond necklace and black satin Brian Atwood Tribeca platform sandals. Christian Dior also crafted Charlize Theron’s dramatic black gown complete with illusion straps. Harry Winston gems finished off the look. Anne Hathaway presented the Best Supporting Actor honor in a black Gucci halter gown with crystal embroidered bodice. The Oscar winner accessorized with a black clutch and Gucci shoes.
Although there were numerous impressive looks from this year’s ceremony, we absolutely loved Lupita’s pleated Prada, Cate’s ornate gown, Angelina’s metallically-inclined Elie Saab and Kate’s striking Atelier Versace. Do you agree or do you have another star in mind for the best dressed crown?
