Trendspotting: Black rules at the British Independent Film Awards

The annual British Independent Film Awards were given out on Sunday night at Old Billingsgate Market in London and several attendees opted for black outfits. Black accessories were the popular way to finish off ensembles on the red carpet with the occasional hint of sparkle thrown in for good measure. Here’s a wrap-up of some of the more interesting looks from the awards.

Felicity Jones selected Burberry for the awards with those pearl-accented bows by the neckline adding another dimension to the basic black dress. Black Jimmy Choo Anouk pumps capped off the look. Downton Abbey actress Joanne Froggatt skipped a dress in favor of this strapless jumpsuit by The Kooples. She rounded out the look with a Louis Vuitton clutch and Jimmy Choo black pumps.

Saoirse Ronan introduced a hint of color to the red carpet with her Peter Pilotto Spring 2014 creation featuring a black floral overlay. Delfina Delettrez gems and black ankle strap sandals served as accessories. It was a black Jasper Conran Spring 2014 sleeveless gown with bright white Peter Pan collar for Hayley Atwell on Sunday evening. De Beers jewelry, a white Jimmy Choo clutch and Casadei shoes completed the look.

We really like the pearl detailing on Felicity’s dress and Saoirse’s unique Peter Pilotto. Do you have a favorite outfit from the event?
