Designer spotlight: Yayoi Forest

yayoi_forest_thumb.jpgDesigner Yayoi Inada of Brooklyn-based jewelry label Yayoi Forest was born near a small forest in Japan, which continues to inspire her current collection. Raised in Kyoto and Osaka, Inada was drawn to the calm and complete feeling she experienced whenever she spent time observing nature’s beauty. After a stint in advertising, she decided to satisfy her desire to express her artistic side and moved to New York to study jewelry design at the Fashion Institute of Technology. For her, her pieces are lucky charms, featuring typical luck symbols like birds in flight or the tree of life. She handcrafts each piece in her Brooklyn studio using 14k gold and sterling silver, incorporating beautiful hand etching and detailed wax carving that accentuate her appreciation for organic shapes and natural beauty.
