Fall Styling Tips Straight From The Runway: Toughen Up A Dress With Motorcycle Boots, Wear Bold Shoes & Add Warmth To A Floaty Dress With A Sweater Coat

Many runway looks are fantasized versions of what are actually completely wearable trends. In this 2 week series, we break down some of our favorite styles from the Fall 2009 runways to show you simple designer-inspired styling tricks that anyone can pull off.

TIP 13: TOUGHEN UP A DRESS WITH MOTORCYCLE BOOTS

Buckle strap boots not only look great with jeans, but are perfect for adding edge to a feminine dress.

TIP 14: WEAR A BOLD SHOE TO BRIGHTEN YOUR LOOK

An oldie but goodie styling trick: add an unexpected shot of color to your look with a bright shoe or accessory.

To get this look, don’t worry about matching your shoe to other colors in your outfit, let it stand on its own by pairing it with more subdued hues.

TIP 15: WEAR A CHUNKY CARDIGAN WITH A FLOATY DRESS

A sweater coat or chunky knit cardigan is the perfect way to add warmth and dress down a pretty dress.

This styling trick is the perfect way to get more wear out of dresses that are typically reserved for warmer weather and dressier occasions. Slip on a cardigan and some tights and you’ve got a great cold weather look.

These are great style tips; I especially love the tough boot trend that we’ve been seeing all over the runways. I wasn’t sure how to translate this into my own wardrobe, but I’ve found some boots that are perfect for even the not-so-daring girl. Try OTBT boots, either Norwalk or Merced – http://tinyurl.com/ybpws4n; or these buckled up boots from Loeffler Randall – http://tinyurl.com/yafoy5s. Either is sure to bring out your inner bad ass!
