As the saying goes, you get what you pay for. So there’s nothing more exciting than coming across a great find that’s worth far more than you paid for it. In fact, when it comes to shopping, finding a great find for the price of “good” is pretty much our life mission.
There are many ways to find a great bargain: hit up a great sale, frequent a favorite vintage or resale shop, swap with a friend, go outlet shopping… but one of my favorite places for great finds are online sample sale, or flash sale, sites. Some of the best are Gilt, Ideeli, RueLaLa and Hautelook, and they’re ideal for finding amazing designer bags, shoes, jewelry and clothing at incredibly discounted prices.
Part of the thrill of shopping these sites is recognizing a great find. I tend to look mainly at accessories: handbags, jewelry and small leather goods – mainly because you don’t have to worry about sizing or choosing the right fit, but also because these items typically have a longer life. So if you find an amazing leather bag or statement necklace at up to 85% off, that you know you’re going to wear for years, then you really have a great find for the price of “good”. I’ve bought everything from Rebecca Minkoff bags to a Kara Ross cuff bracelet (right) – all at a fraction of retail cost, and all likely to be part of my wardrobe for many years.
The all-new 2011 Jetta comes nicely equipped at a surprising new price. Which means, German engineering, more rear legroom, enough trunk space for just about anything and, above all, more looks from everybody on the road. It’s great. For the price of good.
