I have fond memories of my mom getting me dolled up for one of my “dates with Dad.” I was 7 years old, and a huge fan of the rock band KISS. So for Father’s Day, my Mom sprung for two tickets so Dad and I could enjoy a little father/daughter bonding. I wore my white fur rabbit jacket and black corduroy knickers jumpsuit with a white blouse underneath. Remember when these pieces were childhood haute couture? I looked like a furry pilgrim, minus the hat. Nevertheless, off we went for our adventure! Picture this: Gene Simmons, his tongue waving, the fake blood, music so loud my ears rang…I ended up freaked out and voted to head home early. Now Picture this: hospital emergency room, my darling father, in an effort to reduce the noise at the concert, stuck paper napkins so far down his ear canals he couldn’t get them out. We laugh about it now, but it didn’t seem as funny at the time.
To all the special men in our lives who inspire and love us whether we look like glam divas or furry pilgrims, I want to wish you and your family a wonderful Father’s Day. If you are planning a special father/daughter date, here’s a variety of (fur FREE) looks to consider. P.S. don’t forget to bring your camera along so you can grab a snapshot to remember the day!
Date with Dad: gone fishing, gone hiking, gone to the beach, gone to have fun!
There are so many fun ways to celebrate Father’s Day with your Dad. For a casual outdoorsy day, the key is to dress comfortably and be ready for anything. Be sure to bring a chic hat along to give you a little added dose of sun protection and wear sensible shoes. Blisters = buzz kill!
Date with Dad: family brunch and dressier options
Whether you brunch, lunch or just take a nice stroll with your Dad, you can never go wrong with a charming sundress and sweater or scarf.
