Fall 2009 Eye Make Up Trends We Love

This fall, it’s all about emphasizing eyes and lips. At Lanvin, we saw natural eyes paired with bright lips. At Christian Dior, candy-colored eyes were all the rage. The smokey eye was intensified at Marc Jacobs with black shadow.  Here are some tips on how to get these looks, plus our suggestions on what products  to use.

Dark, intense smokey eyes – Intensify the classic smokey eye with jet black colors. Apply thick eyeliner along the rim of your eye, and black shadow on your lids. Finish the look with a few coats of black mascara.

We love mark. Make It Big Mascara in Black ($6.50 at meetmark.com) because it doesn’t clump and adds a boost of volume to lashes. For liner, our top pick is Prescriptives Kohl Pencil in Black ($17.50 at Beauty.com). The Giorgio Armani Maestro Eye Shadow Duo in Charcoal and Beige ($32 at Nordstrom) is the ultimate smokey eye combination – choose brown for a more natural look and black for intense.
Candy-colored Eyes – Apply thick colored eye shadow under the rim of your eye and on your lids. Complete the look with black or dark brown mascara.
Get two bright eye shadows in one with Nars Duo Eye Shadow ($32). Our favorite candy-colored liner is the Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil  ($17, both at Sephora) because it will last all day. We suggest buying it in Deviant (blue) and Ransom (purple).
Natural eyes – Also popular this fall will be the “no make up” look, which will go great with bold lips. To get it, apply just a touch of brown mascara and use a nude or bronze eyeshadow.
We suggest Stila Major Lash Mascara in Brown ($8.50) and the Smashbox Eyelights Eye Shadow Palette in Beam ($34, both at Beauty.com).
