Our desire to have glossy, luscious lips versus the need for long lasting color is a never ending battle. Sure that fab tube of gloss may give a patent leather shine but an hour later it’s magically disappeared and we’re left with a dry, colorless pout. We could make the switch to lipstick but we’d just end up applying a coat of gloss to fulfill our need for sheen. Who has time for a two-step lip look? We certainly don’t.
Thankfully makeup manufacturers have come to our rescue, combining extended wear technology with megawatt shine to deliver a one-step product that takes us through a night of eating, drinking and even (gasp!) sleeping. Check out our tried and true faves below.
L’oreal Infallible Never Fail Lipgloss
Don’t tell the men in our lives but we’ve been having a secret affair right under their nose. A big, beautiful, head-over-heels romance with L’oreal’s 6-hour, go nowhere gloss. We knew it was the relationship of our lifetime when we fell asleep with our makeup on (shh, don’t tell the beauty police) and woke up with Rebel Red on our lips, completely intact.
Clinique Long Last Glosswear SPF15
If you’re like us and enjoy a bit of tack with your gloss, Clinique’s Long Last Glosswear is your girl. The richly pigmented formula applies a bit thick, with a lacquer like luster that doesn’t budge even after multiple drinks and a greasy lunch.

Revlon ColorStay Mineral Lipglaze
Are you the kind of gal that wants the ease of a lipgloss without the gleaming, wet look? Then head on out to your local Revlon display and pick up a tube of ColorStay Mineral Lipglaze. Creamy in texture, it lays down a thick coat of color that feels smooth and silky not at all sticky.
Lancome La Laque Fever
Following the lead of drugstore sister, L’oreal, Lancome recently released a durable, lasting lipshine that is making a major play for our affections. Its doe-foot wand makes precise application a breeze while the light reflecting particles draw stares at our pucker. With a satiny feel that is light and luxurious, we officially added La Lacque to our list of makeup bag staples.
