Summer Hair Trend: Off-Center Chignons

The off-center chignons spotted on the models at the 3.1 Phillip Lim spring 2009 show were sleek, stylish, and perfect for hot summer weather. The simple and feminine chignon hairstyle will keep you cool by pulling hair away from your face and neck, and we love the off-center twist. Here’s how to do it yourself:
1. To get the sleek effect, blow-dry or straighten hair before you begin and prep with mousse and anti-frizz serum.
2. Put your hair into an off-center pony tail and secure with an elastic.
3. Twirl your hair around until its a tight spiral, then coil it around the base of your pony tail.
4. After you have wrapped it around once, tuck the end of your hair under the bun.
5.Secure again with an elastic (and bobby pins, if necessary).
Here are some products that will help you get the off-center chignon look, from Sephora:
From left to right: Frederic Fekkai Full Volume Mousse, $20; Frederic Fekkai Marine Summer Hair Zero-Humidity Frizz Control, $23; Sephora Brand Snag-Free Hair Elastics, $3.50 for a set of 6.
