- Get a manicure or DIY at home weekly to keep nails from getting brittle. When you’re giving yourself a manicure, soak your nails in soapy water for a couple minutes before pushing back cuticles and trimming.
- Use cuticle oil, like OPI Avoplex Cuticle Oil ($8 at Amazon.com) as often as possible (Amador suggests twice a day, if you have time) and let it sit for a few minutes to soften and moisturize cuticles and nails.
- Before applying nail polish, use a base coat with protein like Nailtiques Nail Protein Formula ($13.75 at Amazon.com) to prevent nails from cracking, splitting, and looking “raggedy.”
