Michelle Williams is one of those celebrities you trust, you know? You just get a nice, ethical, cares-about-the-world-and-her-art vibe off of her. So why would she pose in what some are calling red face (a term, much like black face, used to describe people of another race imitating Native Americans)? This Another Magazine cover is facing a lot of criticism for taking a blonde fair-haired actress and portraying her as a Native American. The headline, which overtly references her new movie The Wizard of Oz, has a more sinister tone when you think of the fact that many of the people her image represents had their homes stolen.
What do you think? Harmless artistic photograph, or horrible lapse in judgment? Jezebel has one Native American’s take on the subject.
