If your feet haven’t seen the light of day in months, they’re probably due for some serious pampering before they make their debut. Fortunately, there are plenty of ways to get your toes in shape for summer (or spring break) right at home. Here are some tips to help you prepare your feet for sandals season.
It might sound gross, but there’s a ton of rough, thick dead skin on your feet (ew!). To reveal the soft, beautiful skin underneath it’s time for some exfoliating. Begin by soaking your feet in a bath of warm water and Epsom salt for about 10 minutes a couple times a week. This will soften dead skin, which you can then slough off with a foot file.
As the reveal date of your new pedicure draws closer, start using a face mask with glycolic acid on your feet three times per week. Yes, you’re putting a face mask on your feet – this is a pro tip for smooth skin, we swear!
Lastly, it’s time to get those feet hydrated. Before bed, slather on a moisturizer with urea, a compound that breaks down dead skin, and sleep with cotton socks to seal in moisture.
