Ahoy "Ma-dies" – Holiday Resort Wear Reminds Us That It's Warm Somewhere

By Stacy Cox

It’s a cool, crisp 50 degree Sunday evening here in Los Angeles, which I realize to many of you is the equivalent of a summer heat wave, yet to Angelinos, “winter” has arrived. It’s the perfect time to snuggle up in bed with my favorite fashion mags to catch up with what editors love this holiday season. What grabs me each December as I’m browsing the pages for the best cashmere sweater or black leather riding boots are the pictorials on resort collections. Models leap off the pages sprayed a golden tan wearing nautical-inspired swimsuits and sportswear perfect for their winter escape to St. Kitts, St. Barths or some other tropical island where “less” is so much more! Returning from my reverie, I face my reality: I am pasty white, the closet things I have to nautical sportswear are my navy sweatpants, and the only thing “golden” in my life is my retriever. So in the spirit of all things beachy, let’s take a look at some of the coolest fashion statements to help you look hot when the weather is not. Aloha!

Alex Woo Narissa Cuff Bracelet

Gypsy 05 Liza Maxi

I love Jessica Alba’s fashion sense here… She is ready for the beach with the cute dress and then with the scarf around her neck she can either lay it down as in impromptu towel OR know that in the real world, her arms may freeze but her vocal chords will be perfecto.

Anna & Boy V Neck One Piece

By winter, my washboard abs have mysteriously vanished but my love affair with chocolate is loud and proud. This one piece will convey understated elegance combined with bold sexiness while covering up my winter tummy.
